Profile
This tiny brick-walled store owned by a young East Village couple carries the best indie designers from the U.S.—as well as Scandinavia, France, Korea, and Thailand. Women’s pieces are split between two racks (one for U.S. designers and one international designers), both filled with cute jumper dresses, high-waisted pants, draped jersey wear, and intricately detailed cocktail dresses. The single rack allotted for menswear is lined with brands that twist casual classics like sweatshirts and t-shirts into something much more interesting—and more costly: Unruly Heir makes a summery seersucker hoodie, and Public School’s styles have touches like quilted pockets and stand-up collars. Accessorizing these downtown looks is easy with serpent rings by local designer Bijules, one-of-a-kind flea market baubles, and a collection of vintage deadstock sunglasses. There’s also a sharply edited collection of kicks by standbys Creative Recreation and Adidas, and cult label Clae and Gram.

While the rest of the city scurries up and down Broadway, these three micro–shopping districts remain blissfully unpicked-over.
